About Us

Grand Traverse Humanists

The Grand Traverse Humanists is a local chapter of the national organization the American Humanist Association. The AHA, founded in 1941, is a non-profit organization that advocates for the rights and viewpoints of humanists. As a local chapter it is our purpose to give the AHA a strong grassroots presence, as well as offer an educational forum and philosophical platform where humanist issues may be fully analyzed and debated among like-minded individuals in a friendly environment.

The Grand Traverse Humanists currently meet on the second Monday of the month from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm at the main branch of the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. in Traverse City (unless there is a special meeting in another location; details about upcoming events can be found on the main page). Doors are open at 5:30 for those who wish to socialize beforehand.
