SUMMARY:G.T. Humanists Bike Ride: Leelanau Trail
DESCRIPTION:Our next Humanists Bike Ride event will be on Sunday\, September 8\, leaving from Darrow Park at 11:00 a.m. We will ride to Hop Lot in Suttons Bay for lunch and then return. If the approximately 32 mile round trip is too much\, feel free to join along the way at locations such as Cherry Bend Road\, Fouch Road\, or Lakeview Drive. And as a bonus\, some with electric bikes have been extending the ride and going on longer scenic excursions apart from the planned route.\n\nPlease RSVP to Ed Scholl at Ecs11213@gmail.com if you are planning to join. If you will be joining somewhere other than Darrow Park\, please let us know\, so we know to look for you elsewhere.

SUMMARY:G.T. Humanists Meeting: On the Ground Global
DESCRIPTION:Join the Grand Traverse Humanists on Monday\, September 9\, as they welcome Stella and Tim Young for a presentation about On the Ground Global. The program will be at the Traverse Area District Library\, 610 Woodmere\, at 6 p.m.\n\nOn the Ground Global is the charitable arm of Traverse City’s Higher Grounds Coffee. It works to improve lives in the communities that supply Higher Grounds’ coffee beans–building a school in Ethiopia\, a water project in Chiapas\, and gender equality programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo\, to name a few.\n\nDirector of Development Stella Young has been involved with OtG projects since joining a delegation with her family alongside the Run Across Ethiopia project at age ten. Over the years she stayed engaged in the organization’s work and launched her own campaign to raise funds for the school tuition of forty students in the DRC over three years. She graduated from Kalamazoo College in June 2022 and is thrilled to be working with OtG again. Tim Young co-founded On the Ground Global with Chris Treter.
