SUMMARY:G.T. Humanists Meeting: Immigration Chaos
DESCRIPTION:For our October meeting (10/13/25 at the Traverse Area District Library\, 6 PM)\, Karen Segal will present a program on immigration in the U.S. Is a balanced discussion possible on this most controversial of topics? Karen hopes so. She will draw on her first-hand knowledge of the State Department and the immigrant experience to talk about the challenge facing America\, including right here in Northern Michigan.\n\nKaren Segal had a twenty-year career in the Department of State\, first as an intelligence analyst of Soviet Affairs and then as a diplomat in Russia. She is a Council on Foreign Relations scholar and the author of several articles on U.S. arms control policy as well as the book\, “U.S.-Israeli Strategic Cooperation in the post-Cold War Era” (Westview Press\, 1992). Upon moving to Traverse City\, she became Co-Chair and Director of NMC’s International Affairs Forum. Now\, Karen leads a local team resettling families from Afghanistan and Ukraine.
