DESCRIPTION:Join the Grand Traverse Humanists as they welcome retired cardiologist and GTH member Dr. Mark Elliott for a talk on ultra-processed food. What are so-called “ultra-processed foods\,” and what is their relationship to obesity\, diabetes\, cancer\, and overall health? Popular author Michael Pollan describes them as “edible food-like substances\,” and they’re designed to be hyperpalatable and even addictive. Dr. Elliot will explore the science behind these foods and how we can make sure our own diet is healthy and balanced.
