We are a community for the non-religious in the Grand Traverse area, offering a forum for discussing and advancing a secular worldview based on our common humanity. This book synthesizes Dr. Shermer’s 30 years of research to answer the questions of how and why we believe what we do in all aspects of our lives, from our suspicions and superstitions to our politics, economics, and social beliefs.

If you don’t think you’ll ever make the days-long journey through the sea to reach it, you can visit from your chair here in Traverse City as Bo takes us on the journey of a lifetime. Retired from the Air Force, Bo Clampitt has since completed multiple marathons, thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, among other things. Stephen Tuttle is the only person in Michigan to have been qualified by the courts as an expert witness in campaign communications, and has worked with such clients as John Kerry, Mo Udall, Barney Frank, and John Lindsay. He writes a weekly column in the Northern Express. Join us as he discusses two of his past campaigns, and in particular, the interplay between campaign communications and local (sometimes hostile) media.
